Clearwater Lodge MuskyTHE LAKES AND RIVERS

When coming to our lodge you may not know it now. But you will after arriving here that the choice you have in species to fish and accesible lakes is world class and an adventure unparalled any where else in North America. It just seems like the lakes never end and go on forever. From the air it looks like puddles of water everywhere, the sight at sunset is surreal. And don't forget about our northern lights, some nights it seems as if they dance all over our skies, neon green, bright white and purple tinged wisps of lights effortlessly to natures tune.

CLEARWATER(Burditt) LAKE

At approximately 8 miles long this clear watered lake is home to Clearwater Lodge. Species that inhabit this lake consist of Walleye, Northern Pike, Muskie, Yellow Perch, Whitefish, Smallmouth Bass. With many bays and sand bottom in spots Clearwater can support some really good fishing for every species. With classic reef structure and some weedy bays to mix it up, this lake has the recipe for some trophy fish and has catches & sightings of some record Muskies.

PIPESTONE LAKE

Pipestone lake is 30 miles long x 15 miles tall interspersed with inlets, fjords and islands and with depths of over 300' with the structure that holds some of the largest fish around. This lake can produce trophys of every species in the lake - Muskie, Northern Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout, Yellow Perch, Small mouth and Large mouth Bass and Whitefish The pristine beauty of this lake is something to see and with no available road access to this lake it is kept that way. Only accessible by boat and float plane this deep clear lake is a prime example of unspoiled wilderness at its finest.

This lake is the favourite of many pro fisherman such as Babe Winkelman and Dick Pearson, who love the scenery and chance at catching trophy sized fish. Our outpost is located in the northwest arm of Pipestone where some excellent fishing can be had right off the dock. Click here to send us a reservation request

SCHISTOSE LAKE

Located at the far north end of the Pipestone/Clearwater chain this lake is clear watered and of fair size. Excellent walleye fishing in here as well as Muskie, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass. Many stories come from this lake such as the one where a huge muskie tried to eat the walleyes off of the stringer while some famous fisherman/t.v. personalities were having shore lunch.

STONEDAM LAKE

Off the south eastern end of Pipestone is Stonedam appropriately named because of the natural rock that dams the water between Pipestone and Stonedam lakes. But still easy enough to bring a light boat through. Walleyes, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass inhabit this lake. Again a very clear watered lake that because of the slender build of the lake offers easy fishing on the windy days that would prevent one from being on the larger waters of Pipestone or Clearwater lake.

SLENDER LAKE

One of the first lakes that you will come to after crossing the Clearwater north mechanical portage. This lake holds some very large Muskie and Lake Trout. With some of the classic structure one would look for when searching out these monsters. Other fish available in this lake are walleye, nothern pike, Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass.Water clarity is very clear in here. This is the lake which will lead you to one of our awesome portage or fly in lakes named Kishkutena lake.

KISHKUTENA LAKE

On many maps it says "Muskies for sure" and "Kishkutena" definitely lives up to that name. One of those lakes where Muskies, Lake Trout, and Small mouth Bass live in co existence. This is a very beautifull lake with many bays and islands that help create awesome scenery while making for excellent structure for these fish. Go in here with your camera loaded with film and batteries.

LAKE DESPAIR

A shallow lake with depths of up to 40' and tea stained in colour this lake has Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Crappie and Small mouth Bass. With many islands and bays this lake produces good quality fishing.

WELD LAKE

Connecting Link Lake to Pipestone this lake has Walleye, Northern Pike, Small mouth Bass, Yellow Perch and the occasional lurking Muskie waiting in the narrows for an easy lunch. Getting it's water from Pipestone the clarity is very clear. The first time you go through the narrows from Qill to Weld and then to Pipestone pay attention to where the rocks are the clearness of the water is decieving to the closeness of the boulders.

LINK LAKE

Connecting Quill lake to Weld lake this is a smaller lake that has walleye in spots with Northern Pike and Small mouth Bass hiding in the stumpfields.

QUILL LAKE

This is the first lake you come to on the north side of Clearwater Lake. With a few stumpfields and some reefs as well as a series of islands this lake holds, Muskie, Lake Trout, Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Small mouth Bass and Whitefish.

JACKFISH LAKE

To reach here you go over the south mechanical portage and then ride through Lake Despair, Mile River and Footprint lake to finnaly enter Jackfish lake. Well worth the journey this lake has excellent walleye fishing with super bass fishing and crappie as well. Northern Pike, Whitefish and Yellow Perch lurk in all the shallows here as well. With a beautifull sand beach to stop and swim at in the hot afternoon after shore lunch you will favourably remember this lake.

MANOMIN LAKE

Located at the end of Manomin river this is a small lake holding Small mouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, Yellow Perch

MANOMIN RIVER

This is the river that goes from the Clearwater Lake south portage to Manomin Lake

FOOTPRINT LAKE

Water from Lake Despair and Jackfish feeds this lake before it leaves Footprint to flow down Footprint river and over the dam into Rainy Lake. Walleye, Norther Pike, Small mouth Bass, Yellow Perch as well as Crappie abound here. Water here is tea stained in colour.

FOOTPRINT RIVER

This is the last stretch of river that all the water in this lake system travels before it flows over the dam and into the Northwest Bay Rainy Lake.

MILE RIVER

This is the river between Lake Despair and Footprint lake it is the only connecting waterway between the two lakes.

COBOURG LAKE

A portage lake with great lake trout fishing. Off of Pipestone you portage over land into this beautifull lake.

HIDDEN & DAGGERT LAKE

Two small lakes that offer great Largemouth Bass Fishing. To get to Hidden lake you first must portage into Daggert lake from Slender lake and then cross Daggert to the other end and then cross land to get to where the boat sits on Hidden lake. Definitely an adventure to get here but well worth it as you will have the lake all to your self for your fishing enjoyment.

WATSON/STAR LAKE

A small portage off of Pipestone lake and you will be in one of the very clearest waters you have ever seen. This lake contains only Smallmouth Bass and is a factory. We have had numerous reports of over 200 fish boated in one day. And with the lake being so clear it is excellent fun to fish here with top water lures, as you can watch the Bass leave their structure to come and hit your bait.

DASH LAKE

A short portage from Pipestone is Dash Lake. Excellent Lake Trout fishing in here and with depths of over 200' this lake produces some very nice sized fish. Trophy Northern Pike abound in this lake as well with the largest known caught here to be 48" long. With such depths, rocky structure and some weedy bays this lake is very beautifull and picturesque to fish. This is the lake where we have an outpost cabin available. It is the only cabin on the lake and offers the ultimate in remoteness and "getting away from it all".
